About Us

For several years, we had the honor of publishing works composed by contemporary Shii mystics, such as Allamah Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Husayni Tihrani, Allamah Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Tabataba'i, Sayyid Hashim al-Haddad al-Musawi, Sayyid Ali Qadi and others, in Persian and Arabic. However, after we noticed a strong surge in interest in Islamic mysticism among those living in Western communities, we decided to create a sister site in English as well.  This was done in order to meet the needs of those lacking mastery of either Persian or Arabic.

We hope that this website functions as a medium through which the ideas and concepts of these great men of God might be transferred to those living in the West, quenching the thirst of those seeking knowledge of the divine.

On the occasion of the official release of this site, we asked Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Muhsin Husayni Tihrani, the son of Allamah Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Husayni Tehrani, for a message welcoming those visiting the site for the first time.

The text of his reply is as follows:

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful;

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, the Eternal One who has granted success to the pious individuals who took the responsibility upon themselves to disseminate the true teachings of the divine and metaphysical. Praised be He who gave them the understanding and insight of the straight path. Praised be the One who inspired them with the awareness and the feeling of responsibility towards this grand obligation of vital importance in this time and age.

Mottaqeen.com is proud to act as a herald of Shi’ite thought and to elaborate further upon matters concerning the keepers of the divine revelation: the Prophet Muhammad and his purified household, peace be upon them all. We strive to commit ourselves to this cause far removed from political- and worldly aspirations, or unjustified fanaticism. Therefore, this website limits itself to acting as a reference for expounding upon those holy teachings only.

Shi'ite and Islamic thought is a herald of truth. It is a herald of sincerity, trustworthiness in any place, era, and circumstance. It is a continuation of the monotheistic movement of previous prophets.

The Islamic and Shi’ite school of thought, which approves and recognizes the efforts of God’s prophets who intended to elevate humanity to the highest level of perfection imaginable, guarantees edification and self-purification. Therefore, Islam does not only approve of earlier religions. Rather, it adds additional human principles, religious teachings and obligations to these creeds in order to prepare the way to progressing towards happiness and salvation in this world and Hereafter.

The following noble verse of the Qur’an is the slogan of the Islamic faith and was adopted by the individuals those who work on this site:

وكان حقا علينا نصر المؤمنين

“…helping the believers is ever-incumbent upon Us.”[1]

The meaning of the verse is that wherever faith and belief in divine Lordship arise, then Islam will manifest there as well in order to help and assist. This is regardless of the form or shape that that belief might initially take, and regardless of any ethnicity. This matter distinguishes Islamic teachings: Islam recognizes no limits or borders. Moreover, different shapes and colors are not considered to be a basis of discrimination between individuals.

Islamic teachings address the human intellect. It addresses the innate and natural spiritual orientation of human beings and leads them to their promised perfection and ultimate destination.

Proclaiming, clarifying, and expressing this lofty goal has been the main motivation to build this site. Therefore, we are proud to present the writings and speeches of God's friends and saints (awliya' Allah) and those great scholars with true knowledge of the divine. By that, we mean those who have gotten to know the reality of monotheistic truths by presence, realized it within the heart and gained access to the divine sanctuary of God with their whole being and soul. With that realization, they have saturated and intoxicated their minds and intellects with the lights and breezes of that divine abode of Lordship.

It honors us to be involved in the publication and promotion of true divine knowledge and exalted human principles, delivering it to those seeking true understanding and insight while holding lofty aspirations. In this respect, we offer our genuine gratitude to you for visiting this site and showing your interest. We welcome any criticism, comments or any other feedback shown by you.
